Curbside Garbage Collection

  • Program Description: The town contracts for residential garbage collection. The municipality pays the tipping fees directly. Curbside collection of both trash and recyclables is provided to all town streets with the exception of garden apartment complexes.

Curbside Recycling Collection

  • Program Description: Starting in 2020 Denville switched to dual-stream curbside recycling where paper is collected separately one week and commingled cans and bottles are collected the other week. Residents must keep paper separarte from commingled bottles and cans.
  • Schedule: For alternating Wednesday collection; paper is placed at the curb one Wednesday and commingled glass, plastics and cans are collected the following Wednesday.

Aluminum Containers (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Rinse thoroughly (no residue allowed) and commingle with other bottles and cans.

Glass Containers (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Remove lids, rinse the glass and commingle with other bottles and cans. Do not put metal lids back onto glass bottles and jars.

Steel (Tin) Containers (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Empty, rinse and commingle with other bottles and cans. Aerosol cans must be empty. Remove plastic cap/lids, and put them into the garbage.

Brown Paper Bags (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Commingle with other paper recyclables only if clean.

Chipboard/Paperboard (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Commingle with other paper recyclables. Flatten all boxes. Include beverage carriers, cereal, pasta and facial tissue boxes, paper towel rolls.

Corrugated Cardboard (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Flatten and mix with other paper recyclables, and do not bundle or tie. When bringing to recycling center, must be separate.

Newspaper (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Mix with other paper recyclables, and do not tie or bundle.

Telephone Books (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Also includes paperback or softcover books. Do not include hardcover books.

Metal Appliances (Recycling) Bulky items including stoves, other appliances. Refrigerators and air conditioners must have freon removed by licensed appliance dealer prior to putting out for curbside pickup.
