Curbside Garbage Collection

Program Description: The Borough of Madison offers 3 ways for residents to dispose of their garbage.
- Free Regular Curbside Pickup - Once a week curbside pickup from around September-April, twice a week curbside pickup from around May to September
- Traditional Rear Yard Pickup -Residents can contract to have their garbage taken from behind or along the side of their home for an annual fee of $150. Once a week rear yard pickup from September-April and twice a week rear yard pickup from around May to September .
- NEW- Enhanced Rear Yard Pickup - Year round, twice a week pickup from behind or along the side of a residence for an annual fee of $250. The pickups will occur on your regular, twice a week schedule, District 1A and 1B on Monday & Thursday, District 2A & 2B on Tuesday & Friday, and District 2C and District 3 on Wednesday & Saturday.
Residents interested in rear yard pickup should contact the hauler, Suburban Disposal, at 973-227-7020. The hauler will directly bill each resident.

Type 10 Municipal Solid Waste
(Disposal)- Each container cannot exceed 80 lbs.
- No construction material, grass, leaves, medical waste or recyclables.
- NO GARBAGE can be put in corrugated cardboard boxes. Corrugated must be recycled.
Curbside Recycling Collection
- Program Description: Residential recycling collection. Glass, plastic, aluminum and steel containers are mixed together. Other paper is commingled, including newspapers. Residents that have missed a pickup of recyclables should call the Madison Public Works Department at 973-593-3088..
- Schedule: Materials alternate every other week.

Curbside Yard Waste Collection

Program Description:
Curbside collection of vegetative waste. Residents that have missed a pickup of yard waste should call the Madison Public Works Department at 973-593-3088.
- Schedule: Grass clippings and brush are picked up once a week from mid-March to mid-December. Leaves are picked up curbside by the Madison Public Works Department in the fall.

Limitations: The facility is open to Madison residents and small businesses only.
Unaccepable ItemsAppliances - Not accepted at recycling depot. An in person visit must be made to the Borough Clerk's office at Town Hall, 50 Kings Road, from Monday through Thursday. There is a $25/per appliance charge ( cash or check only) payable to the clerk. Your appliance will be picked up by DPW on Friday morning.
Yard Waste - Not accepted at recycling depot. Curbside collection runs from March to December on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, dependent upon your district's schedule.
