Solid Waste Services In Kinnelon Borough

Curbside Garbage Collection

  • Program Description: The town provides for residential garbage collection. The municipality pays for tipping fees directly. The largest size container allowed for garbage is 35 gallons, Maximum 50 lbs as per Borough Code. Any garbage in larger containers will not be collected. DO NOT OVERFILL CONTAINERS. One person must be able to lift and dump container.
  • Schedule: Twice a week collection with Section A (Smoke Rise) having Monday and Thursday collection, Section B (Fayson Lakes) having Tuesday and Friday collection and Section C (Middle of Town - Kinnelon Estates) having Wednesday and Saturday collection. Please be advised that all collections begin at 6:00 am and garbage must be at the curb by 6:00 am on your collection day. Garbage will be collected RAIN or SHINE. In the event of SNOWFALL or FLOODING conditions, collection may be cancelled until your next scheduled date.

Glass Containers (Recycling) Remove lids, rinse, commingle with container mix. Metal lids may be placed in container separately.

Plastic #1 (PETE) Bottles (Recycling) Discard lids, rinse, flatten, commingle with container mix. Only include bottles with necks smaller than the base.

Plastic #2 (HDPE) Bottles (Recycling) Discard lids, rinse, flatten, commingle with container mix. Only include bottles with necks smaller than the base.

 

Curbside Bulky Waste Collection

  • Program Description: The town provides every other month residential bulky waste garbage collection.
  • Schedule: Dates are typically scheduled for each Section (A, B and C) for every other month.

Type 13 Bulky Solid Waste (Disposal) Large, Non-Metal items such as furniture, carpet, scrap wood and other large odd & ends are considered bulky garbage and should be put out for curbside bulk collection. Metal and E- Waste are NOT Considered Bulk. Please, Do Not Put Out Any Metal or E-Waste Items. Instead, Bring These Items To Our Recycling Facility. All construction related material must be disposed of privately.

  • Hours: Monday &Tuesday, 7:00am- 2:45pm and Saturday & Sunday, 8:00am-5:45pm.
  • Notes: All containers is the Recycling Depot are clearly marked to received your materials. Please deposit materials in appropriate containers or locations.
  • Limitations: Kinnelon residents only. Contractors and tradesmen are not permitted to use the depot's containers for any reason, even if accompanied by a Kinnelon resident. Under no circumstances are rock, stone, concrete or dirt accepted at the depot.
