Curbside Garbage Collection

  • Program Description: Homeside pickup for garbage and recycling is based on your election district. "Homeside" refers to any location adjacent to the garage or within six feet of your house. Keep the location consistent to ensure pickup.
  • Schedule: There is one pickup per week. Pick-up begins at 7:30 a.m. and occurs daily with the exception of Christmas Day when it will be picked up the following day.

Type 10 Municipal Solid Waste (Disposal) Garbage bags must be placed in a suitable container so that animals are not able to get into the trash. Bags must be tied at the top to prevent overfill and must weigh less than 50 pounds. Untied and/or overfilled bags will not be picked up. There is a 2-container allotment per resident.

 

Curbside Recycling Collection

  • Program Description: The recyclables are collected as alternating-week Dual Bin Recycling. Note, the Borough owns the recyclable material and receives direct dollar benefit for the sale of some of the recyclables to the various markets. Clean and uncontaminated recyclable materials have more value on the market. Therefore, IT IS IMPERATIVE that all acceptable recyclables are CLEAN, and are kept CONTAMINANT FREE. Clean means that the items must be free of residual food and dirt. Contaminant Free means that only acceptable recyclables be included. Remember, you own it -- it is in your best interest to do it right.
  • Schedule: Alternating collection for paper and commingled containers.

Aluminum Containers (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Rinse thoroughly (no residue allowed) and commingle with recyclables.

Glass Containers (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Remove lids, rinse the glass and commingle with recyclables. Put metal lids into container; do not put metal lids back onto glass bottles and jars.

Plastic #1 (PETE) Bottles (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Empty, rinse and commingle with recyclable mix. Do not put caps/lids back onto bottles. Put caps/lids into the garbage.

Steel (Tin) Containers (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Empty, rinse and commingle with recyclables. Aerosol cans must be empty. Remove plastic cap/lids, and put them into the garbage.

Chipboard/Paperboard (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Commingle with other recyclables. Flatten all boxes. Include beverage carriers, cereal, pasta and facial tissue boxes, paper towel rolls.

Corrugated Cardboard (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Flatten and mix with other recyclables, and do not bundle or tie.

Newspaper (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Mix with other recyclables, and do not tie or bundle.

Telephone Books (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Also include paperback or softcover books. Do not include hardcover books.
