Curbside Garbage Collection

  • Program Description: Roxbury Township collects both garbage and recyclables on the same day in different collection vehicles. Please help us to easily identify your recyclables by clearly marking your containers. Stickers for this purpose are available at the Municipal Building or by calling 448-2069. It is also helpful if you leave a space between your trash and recyclables when placing them at curbside for collection. The maximum number of bags or containers of trash is five (5). The municipality pays for tipping fees directly.
  • Schedule: Monday..Route 1, Wednesday...Route 3, Tuesday...Route 2, Thursday.. Route 4. Friday:.. Route 5. All garbage must be placed at curbside no later than 5:30 AM on your scheduled collection day.

Material Accepted

Type 10 Municipal Solid Waste (Disposal) Trash Containers are limited to 32 Gallons in size, 50 lbs or less. Limit of 5 containers/bags per collection
Type 13 Bulky Solid Waste (Disposal) Free Bulky Service - 1 bulky item will be taken in lieu of 2 cans of trash. Purchase of bulky item stickers is no longer necessary.

 

Curbside Recycling Collection

  • Program Description: Roxbury Township collects both recyclables and garbage on the same day in different collection vehicles. It is also helpful if you leave a space between your trash and recyclables when placing them at curbside for collection. Recycling collection is based on an every other week collection. One wek for commingled containers and the next week for paper products.
  • Schedule: Monday...Route 1, Wednesday...Route 3, Tuesday..Route 2, Thursday.. Route 4. Friday:.. Route 5. Collection is based on an every other week collection. One week for comingled and the following week for paper products. Please see the Township calendar for the proper collection schedule. In the event of an emergency or severe snow storm, priority is placed on the collection of trash. Recyclables should be held until the following scheduled collection day or brought to the Recycling Center.

Material Accepted

Aluminum Containers (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Rinse and commingle with container mix.
Glass Containers (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Remove lids, rinse and commingle with container mix. Metal lids may be placed in container separately.
Plastic #1 (PETE) Bottles (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Discard lids, rinse, flatten and commingle with container mix. Only bottles with necks smaller than the base are acceptable.
Plastic #2 (HDPE) Bottles (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Discard lids, rinse, flatten and commingle with container mix. Only bottles with necks smaller than the base are acceptable.
Brown Paper Bags (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Fold and place in a brown paper bag or tie in a bundle.
Chipboard/Paperboard (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Place in brown paper bags or tie in a bundle. Plastic or wax coated paperboard is prohibited.
Mixed Office Paper (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Place in brown paper bags or tie in a bundle.
Newspaper (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Must be tied in a bundle. Newspapers will not be collected if placed at curbside in paper or plastic bags.
Other Paper/Mag./JunkMail (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Place in brown paper bags or tie in a bundle. Plastic or wax coated paperboard is prohibited.

 

Curbside Yard Waste Collection

  • Program Description: Curbside collection of vegetative waste. The vegetative waste must be placed in brown-kraft paper bags or clearly marked containers. Material in plastic bags will not be accepted. Between April and December the compost truck is available at the municipal recycling center on Sat. 8:00 am - 4:00 p.m and Sundays 8:00 am - 4:00. PLEASE CALL 973-448-2069 FOR EXACT DATES.
  • Schedule: Collection of brush, grass and leaves takes place on your regularly scheduled collection day for trash and recyclables and takes place during certain times of the year. Please consult the Township calendar for the proper collection dates.

Material Accepted

Brush/Tree Parts (Recycling) Brush must be tied in bundles, less than four feet in length and less than 50 lbs. The branches must be less than 3 inches in diameter. Trees and logs are not accepted.
Christmas Trees (Recycling) Typically collected following the new year. For 2012, trees will be collected curbside from Jan.9-13 and Jan 23-27. All decorations must be removed and no tree bags or stands.
Grass Clippings (Recycling) Collected curbside only in Kraft brown paper bags or CLEARLY MARKED trash containers. A limit of fifty (50) bags will be collected weekly during regularly scheduled collection times.
Leaves (Recycling) Collected curbside only in Kraft brown paper bags or CLEARLY MARKED trash containers. A limit of fifty (50) bags will be collected weekly during regularly scheduled collection times

 

Curbside Bulky Waste Collection

  • Program Description: Curbside metal item collection. A sticker must be purchased for the collection of certain large items. Call (973) 448-2069 for more information or to obtain an application form.

Acceptable Material - Recycling

Batteries (Dry Cell) (Recycling) Rechargeable batteries only as alkalines are safe to place in the regular garbage. Make sure battery are individually wrapped or the terminals are taped to prevent electrical shorting and fires.
Books (Hard Cover) (Recycling) Please place into the New Lagacy Book recycling bin. Please keep covers on the books and keep books dry. Also accepts soft-cover books in the same bin for recycling.

E-Waste - Computers, TVs, etc. (Recycling) Computers, laptops and monitors, keyboards, mouse, cables, hard drivers, TVs, scanners, printers, copiers, fax machines,telephones systems, cell phones, home stereo and entertainment systems, cameras, video equipment, toasters, blenders, hand held games

Motor Oil (Used) (Recycling) Place waste oil in a plastic bottle. DO NOT utilize bleach containers for this purpose.
Scrap Metal (Recycling) Small metal items not requiring a sticker for collection are accepted. An appointment for collection of larger items can still be made by calling 973-448-2000. Freon must be removed prior to placing in scrap metal bin with sticker proving such.
Textiles (Recycling) Bins are available for clothing and toys or you can call the Social Services Office at (973) 448-2026 to make a donation.
Tires (Recycling) A tag must be purchased at the Municipal Building before tires are brought to the recycling center. Cost: $2.00 per car tire and $6.00 for truck tires.
