Curbside Garbage Collection

  • Program Description: Weekly residential garbage collection.

Type 10 Municipal Solid Waste (Disposal) Residents are allowed to put out up to three (3) garbage cans every Monday but only 1 can be construction debris.. They may, also, put out one (1) bulk item with their garbage each week.

 

Curbside Recycling Collection

  • Program Description: Newspapers tied in bundles. Mixed paper is commingled. Cans and bottles are commingled.

Material Accepted

Aluminum Containers (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Rinse and commingle with container mix.
Glass Containers (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Remove lids, rinse and commingle with container mix. Metal lids may be placed in container separately.
Plastic #1 (PETE) Bottles (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Discard lids, rinse, flatten and commingle with container mix. Only bottles with necks smaller than the base are acceptable.
Plastic #2 (HDPE) Bottles (Recycling - Commingled Bottles and Cans) Discard lids, rinse, flatten and commingle with container mix. Only bottles with necks smaller than the base are acceptable.
Mixed Office Paper (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Tie in bundles no higher than 12 inches. No plastic bags.
Newspaper (Recycling - Commingled Paper) Tie with string in bundles no higher than 18 inches. No plastic bags

Christmas Trees (Recycling) Typically collected sometime after the new year. Remove all decoration and no tree bags or stands.

  • Hours: Saturdays only: 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
  • Notes: The Department of Public Works should be called for questions regarding the recycling center. All other questions regarding curbside garbage disposal and white metal/metal pick-ups please call the Utility Department at 973-398-6832 ext. 14. Chipping service has been discontinued.
  • Limitations: Unacceptable Items: Window glass, mirrors, furniture, plastic bags, vinyl siding, propane tanks, gas tanks, paint cans, light bulbs, ceramics, construction materials of any kind, gas diesel, motor oils, antifreeze, kerosene, drveway sealer, aerosols, prescription bottles, syringes, styrofoam, and power equipment with gasoline and oil not removed. Also latex paint is not accepted. These paints are not hazardous and should be dried out and disposed of with regular household trash. No Tires will be accepted.
