Click Here for information on the Morris Habitat for Humanity ReStore located on Iron Mountain Road in Mine Hill.  Shop, volunteer or donate materials for sale at the ReStore.  The ReStore keeps building materials, furniture and appliances out of the landfill by accepting donations of these new and gently used materials for sale at low prices.  The proceeds fund Morris Habitat for Humanity's home building projects.

Drought Watch Issued for Morris County  - Morris County and 4 other Northeast NJ counties have been included in an August 5, 2010 NJDEP drought watch. Residents are asked to use less water for lawn watering, car washing and other non-essential water uses.  Click here to read some water conservation practices suggested by the MCMUA.

Safety Note - Three fires have  occurred at the MCMUA's Mount Olive transfer station where it has been suspected that pool chemicals were improperly disposed of in the regular trash and started the fires. Battery Management Evolves - At the beginning of 2010, USDOT regulations regarding the transport of dry-cell batteries will modify the  way dry-cell batteries are collected and managed in and around Morris County.  Click here to learn about these changes and how dry-cell battery management will be as easy as "1-2-3." One (1), throw alkaline (non-hazardous and use-once) dry-cell batteries into the trash; two (2), recycle rechargeable batteries using Call2Recycle®  drop-off boxes; and three (3), take all other types of batteries to a household hazardous waste program. Keep Your Insurance Up-to-date - It is your responsibility to keep your insurance up-to-date and to provide the necessary proof of coverage to the MCMUA.  Please forward your updated insurance certificates to the MCMUA. Slam Dunk the Junk - Put Litter In Its Place! Morris County's Clean Communities program now provides two new grant opportunity for public schools, grades 6-12, in Morris County.  Deadline extended to March 26, 2010.

Tipping Fee Increase
January 1, 2010
- On January 2010 the transfer stations increased the disposal tipping fees by 4% to $90.38/ton for most waste types.  Click here to read about this price increase.

Morris County Recycling Plan Update is Certified by the NJDEP- Click here to read Morris County's most recent recycling plan update called Response to the January 2006 New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Solid Waste Management and Sludge Management State Plan Update - March 2007.  This plan was adopted by the Freeholders on April 11, 2007 and certified by NJDEP on October 10, 2007.

Regular hours are: Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

Mt. Olive facility's currently accepting brush, leaves, grass and wood chips.  Wood mulch and unscreened compost are available.

Parsippany facility's currently accepting brush, grass and wood chips .  Wood chips and unscreened compost are available.

Commercial contractors are not permitted to enter facilities between noon and 1:00 p.m. Compost facilities are CLOSED on the following holidays: Good Friday (4/2/10), Memorial Day (5/31/10), Independence Day (7/5/10), Labor Day (9/6/10), Columbus Day (10/11/10), Thanksgiving (11/25/10), Christmas (12/24-25/10) and NYE (12/31/10).

Dump/material tickets are available at each individual compost facility and all commercial entities (landscapers, contractors, etc.) must pay in full by check (no cash or credit cards accepted) at the the time of dumping or purchasing materials.  The old Shade Tree ticket office on West Hanover Ave. no longer distributes any tickets.  Note: all tickets expire at the end of the year in which they were purchased.

April 1, 2008 - $3.00/ton recycling tax is now added to MCMUA transfer station tipping fees - Click here to read about the tipping fee increase as well as the recently adopted Recycling Enhancement Act.

MCMUA Pays $290,000 to Municipalities for Material They Recycled in 2007 - Nineteen Morris County municipalities have received a approximately $290,000 for recyclable materials they sent to the MCMUA Recycling Consolidation Center in Dover, combined with other materials markets through the MCMUA in 2007.  Click here for more information
